{"id":2,"date":"2015-01-06T18:05:37","date_gmt":"2015-01-06T18:05:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kaleykaraffa.com\/dlbcl\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2016-09-06T17:08:14","modified_gmt":"2016-09-06T17:08:14","slug":"about","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/kaleykaraffa.com\/dlbcl\/about\/","title":{"rendered":"About"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kaleykaraffa.com\/dlbcl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/10615385_10102464234650924_5993760822154590561_n.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-26\" src=\"http:\/\/kaleykaraffa.com\/dlbcl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/10615385_10102464234650924_5993760822154590561_n-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"10615385_10102464234650924_5993760822154590561_n\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The day after my 28th birthday, December 23, 2014, I was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, a form of Non-Hodgkin\u2019s Lymphoma. \u00a0I participated in a clinical trial at <a href=\"https:\/\/unclineberger.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cancer.gov\/about-cancer\/treatment\/clinical-trials\/search\/view?cdrid=700624\" target=\"_blank\">PET-Directed Therapy<\/a>) wherein I received 3 rounds of chemotherapy (R-CHOP) starting on February 2, 2015 and then had a PET scan on April 2, 2015, to determine my responsiveness to chemotherapy. Dr. Park and the clinical trial team determined I had a complete response; therefore, I received\u00a0one more round of chemotherapy on April 20, 2016, and finished my fourth round on May 10, 2015. I had follow up scans and labs on July 14, 2015, which confirmed that I showed no evidence of disease.
